Getting started
What devices does readleaf support?
readleaf sends articles as EPUB3 files to any Kindle or Kobo device or app. This includes all Kindle e-readers, the Kindle app on iOS and Android, and all Kobo devices.
How does the Chrome extension work?
Install the extension, sign in with your readleaf account, and enter your Kindle or Kobo delivery address. From then on, click the readleaf button on any article and it'll be on your device within 30 seconds.
Where do I find my Kindle delivery address?
Go to amazon.com/sendtokindle, sign in, and look under "Your Kindle email address." It usually looks like yourname_XXXXX@kindle.com. You'll also need to add send@readleaf.io to your approved senders list.
Where do I find my Kobo delivery address?
Go to your Kobo account settings online, navigate to "My Account" and look for your personal Kobo email address. It typically ends in @pbsync.com.
Does Amazon offer this for free already?
Amazon does have a Send to Kindle browser extension, but it's unreliable, doesn't work on most sites, has no AI summaries, and doesn't support Kobo at all. readleaf works consistently across thousands of sites and adds features Amazon's tool doesn't have.
Features
What is the AI summary feature?
Every article readleaf sends includes a 2-3 sentence TL;DR summary generated by Claude (Anthropic's AI) and injected at the top of the article. When you open something you saved weeks ago, you immediately know what it's about and why you saved it.
What is newsletter forwarding?
Reader plan members get a unique personal email address (e.g. yourname-abc123@readleaf.io). Set up a forwarding rule in Gmail or any email client to forward newsletters to that address, and readleaf will convert them to EPUB and send them to your Kindle or Kobo automatically.
Can I send EPUB and PDF files to my device?
Yes — Reader plan members can upload any EPUB or PDF directly from their dashboard and send it to their Kindle or Kobo. Perfect for eARCs from NetGalley, fanfic from AO3, or any document you want to read on e-ink. EPUB files work with both Kindle and Kobo. PDF files are supported for Kindle only.
How do I stop a newsletter from being forwarded to my device?
Simply remove the forwarding rule in your email client, or unsubscribe from the newsletter directly with the original sender. readleaf doesn't manage newsletter subscriptions — it just processes what you forward to it.
Are ads removed from articles?
Yes — readleaf uses Mozilla's Readability library to extract the core article content and strip ads, navigation, footers, and other clutter before converting to EPUB. What lands on your device is just the article itself.
